Finished Puppets

The puppets are up, in their little set and waiting to be played with;

finals

It is the first time that the puppets have been seen by the majority of people and they seem to of gone down well, with people wanting to take a closer look, touch and feel them whilst I was putting up the display.

Thank to Rob Reed for helping me set up the display and for coming up with his own story about Gregg looking like he is a drunken sailor, with his floppy head and general wavy posture.

Gary Plays With Some Kids;

Unfortunately in a cruel twist of fate, Gary was unable to play with any kids at the playground.  When i got to the selected kids playground (selected for location and the equipment with in it, I got approach by 3 mothers, who asked what i was doing.

One then said “OK”

One just shook their head

And the third out right refused to let me take photos anywhere near there son and asked me to leave, there was no avoiding it and the kid was right where I needed to shoot, so I left, accused of being a pedophile, just like Gary the clown, guess I know how he felt now.

Bits you may have missed…because i did…

Hands

Each set of hands is ‘fully working’, that is to say that each finger and thumb bends independently of one and other.

Hands

Feet/ Shoes

Shoes with a black soul, created for eat clown.  The colour of each clown’s shos matches that of their hair.

Shoes

Eyes

These consist of Ping-Pong balls, an old classic.  The iris and pupil are draw on with permanent markers.

Walter

The smallest of the puppets and one of the trickiest, just due to the scale. Standing at about 6 inches tall, Walter can stand alone.

Walter1

There is also wire with in Walter’s tail, to give it the shape that is seen in the pictures, but also adds another element of play.

His eyes and nose consist of pin pushes (with out the pins attached), super glued into position.

Rocky

Only one photograph of Rocky, showing him inside out and the hole through which he had to be sewn up, which measure a little over an inch in diameter.

Rocky consists mainly of 2 egg like shapes (the same as Margerie), one of which makes the body and the other the head, which are directly attached via the hole.Rocky

Rocky’s nose had to be sewn on after the body had to be attached, so that he could be turned inside out and back round easy, however this made the task of sewning the nose on a very difficult job, with no vision of where the needle was and limiting movement (due to the size of the hole to sew through).

Arthur

Arthur was hard to make, due to the way in which his costume crosses his body, creating some awkward shapes to try and figure out and sew, whilst keeping everything in proportion to one and other.

Arthur1

Arthur inside out, displaying the rather crudely made skeleton with in.

Alan

The same shape Dwayne, flat botton for stability, but with a different head (with hair sewn in) and a red and black, tuck and tails for good measure.

Alan1

Alan also has wire in his arms and hands for manoeuvrability.
